Every barbershop chapter with a moderate treasury can enter the YIH effort without a YIH chairman. Write a letter to every High School in your area and offer a moderate scholarship ($500??) to one graduating senior that will enter college in a Vocal Music Educators program. Include an application form with a SASE.

Once the forms arrive have your BOD review them and choose a winner. Then make the presentation twice—once in front of his/her peers and once in front of your chapter members. Make the chapter visit something special. Invite his/her friends to visit that night too. Have some great refreshments. Get the kids singing tags.

It's a small effort, perhaps by a couple of members, for a very short period of time. There is no need to visit schools and try to get acquainted. You will naturally get acquainted at the school of the winner.
